The Opening Ceremony of the Olympics was a satanic ritual intentionally designed to mock Christianity. With the eyes of the world focused on Paris, the choreographed sacrilege included a moment evocative of the Lord’s Supper as depicted in the iconic painting by Leonardo Da Vinci. Some have attempted to downplay the offense by suggesting the display was intended to represent the “Feast of the Gods” painting by Bijlert. However, part of the portrayal during the opening ceremony by trans drag queens clearly mirrored the revered Lord’s Supper painting. The depiction included a golden calf, a lone rider on a pale horse, skulls (symbols of death), satanic red lighting, children trapped in tunnels, and a rapper wearing a satanic symbol around his neck. It was the ultimate flaunting of degeneracy.
It’s as if the devil has come out of the closet. The forces of darkness are no longer lurking in the shadows. Sometimes, Satan masquerades as an angel of light, but he is now openly and proudly parading perversion. It’s revealing that he’s not mocking Mohammed or ridiculing Buddah. Satan knows who his real adversary is. He is scorning Jesus Christ and daring His followers to do anything about it.
Naturally, genuine Christians around the globe are furious—and they should be. We can’t love Jesus without feeling enraged at those who would denigrate Him. Andy Stanley, pastor of the North Point Community Church in Atlanta, challenged French officials to apologize. Stanley, who has been frequently criticized by many evangelicals lately, wrote the following scathing protest to the French officials:
“Dear France, The Normandy American Cemetery is the final resting place of 9,238 Americans whose graves are marked by 9,238 crosses. American soldiers who, in most cases, volunteered to come to your shores in your time of need. Their final prayers were to the God whose Son you mocked in front of the entire world. It was during the very meal you went to such creative pains to denigrate that Jesus instructed His followers to love one another and then defined what He meant, ‘Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.’ While you host the Olympic games remember your nation hosts a 172.5-acre reminder of what love looks like. You don’t just owe Christians an apology. You owe the West an apology.”
Well said! The Bible instructs us to “Be angry and sin not” (see Ephesians 4). This is a time for all who love the Lord Jesus Christ to stand united and express righteous indignation. However, we must remember that the nation of France is not the primary offender. We are in a spiritual war. It should be clear to anyone with a smidgeon of perception that this is not a national, political, racial, or economic battle. We are engaged in an intensifying spiritual conflict between Satan’s forces of darkness and God’s kingdom of light. Since Satan is emboldened, it’s time for all Christ-followers to “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand” (Ephesians 6:10-13).
